A beautiful flat walk taking in meadow, park and river views

This particular looped route around Hurst Park starts from the furthest parking point (spaces for around 40 cars) and does a loop to take in the meadow area, parkland and river views.

Starting Point

Hurst Park Walk

Hurst Meadows Car Park on Graburn Way, just off Hurst Road

Hurst Park Walk 2

From the car park, there are two paths. As you look at the park, take the well-trodden left hand path (not the man-made path). This will take you through the meadow with clusters of trees to your left and right.

Continue along this path until you reach a point where the path takes a right turn. If you see the red poo bin, keep that on your left hand side. (Unsightly but a good marking point!)

Hurst Park Walk 4

Follow this path, past the children’s play area on your right, and then turn left at the tree in the centre of the photo above.

Hurst Park Walk 4

As you turn left, there’s a large car park on your right. Head towards the large tree in the picture above and cross the entrance road to the car park.

Hurst Park Walk 5

Keep walking straight through this lovely park area, taking in the views of the open space and the river. Maybe stop for a picnic. For this leg of the journey continue your walk to the left of the parkland, as you’ll be walking a loop and you have the opportunity to see the river up close on your return journey.

This particular walk takes you up to the cluster of trees above. This is a great place to turn around and walk back along the towpath.

Take in the river views as you walk along the towpath.

Hurst Park Walk 7

Sailing Club building.

Hurst Park Walk 8

Small ferry crossing point and St Mary’s Hampton Church.

Hurst Park Walk 9

Seating and signage highlighting some of the view points.

As you follow the towpath you walk through some trees past Garrick’s Ait on your left with some pretty little homes.

As you come out from the trees you’re greeted with a lovely panoramic view of the river.

Continue briefly along the towpath until a small goal post comes into sight. Take a right across the field with the goal post on your right, and head to the tree line in front of you, where you’ll find various small paths through the trees. Pick any path to walk through.

Hurst Park Walk 13

As you walk through the trees it will open back up to meadow.

Take a left on the man-made path and head back towards the car park.

Your journey is at an end.
